Being Stuck: One Of The Worst Feelings In The World

School work, emotions, and physical means are just some places or things we feel stuck in, but things will always get better.

We've all been there. An hour, day, week or even a year where we can't figure out what to do with our time, lives, or careers. It seems like we're between a rock and a hard place. Those two things can be school and social life, tradition and straying away from it, or something as simple as choosing one restaurant over another. All of us have different places or situations that we're stuck in.

For me at midnight on the seventh of December 2017 I'm stuck on what to write for a deadline that has already passed (I did get an extension.) I'm stuck on a game where I can't seem to get that one character that I really want to get and I'm stuck in between wanting to sleep in and finishing up the papers that I have to write for finals. Obviously the second option will win on the last one.

But like our dear old friend Flick over here, poor boy, there have been situations that I have been stuck in that were just...stupid. Like waiting until the last minute on a paper to test my strengths and my sanity or finding out the hard way that getting up late for an appointment is never fun nor easy. So if you're like me when it comes to procrastinating, which I do a lot, and are stuck in a situation that you put yourself in, I'm here to say stop procrastinating! But if you do, the hard times will pass I promise.

I can already hear my family now telling me to listen to my own advice on those comments. They mean it in the best way possible and I love them for it.

I don't know about you, but sometimes I have felt like Aladdin and Jasmine but mostly with my mental health. When the depression and anxiety really hit me hard I felt like there was no way out, no light at the end of the tunnel, and no way for me to turn. After a while, though, I learned to trust people and I got help.

Don't be afraid to admit that you need help especially if you're in a bad state of mental health. Therapists and doctors are not there to put you in the hospital, but to merely understand and to help. Asking for help is one of the first steps to recovery and if you're feeling stuck in this way then it is one of the best things to do.

When I started this article, I honestly had no clue where it was going and to be completely honest I still have no clue. But I do know a couple of things.

Feeling stuck in these ways, mentally, emotionally, and school wise, aren't fun and aren't easy. They can make you feel like less of a person and make you feel like you can't breathe. I don't like the feeling and I never will no matter how many times I screw myself over whether it be with sleep or school work. The best way that I have felt helps me to get myself unstuck is talking to people about it. Talking to people always helps and if you can you should.

So whatever you're stuck in right now, I hope you find your way out of it soon.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
