20 Things To Do While You're Stuck At Home For The Holidays

Finals are almost over! You can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel from the dark hole of crying, no sleep and studying into oblivion. You will finally be able to relax and be bored for once, but being bored can also be boring when you're stuck at your parent's houses without your college buddies. Here are a few ways to spend your new-found time while you're at home for winter break.

1. Start a new show to binge on Netflix or Hulu

Giphy

Remember the time when everyone was talking about that cool new show on Netflix and you couldn't watch it since you were drowning in work so you had to add it to the list of shows you want to watch? You can finally whip that sucker out and binge a new show without feeling bad.

2. Have a mini reunion with your high school friends

Giphy

You didn't stop talking to them for a reason; it's just that college and life happened. Go ahead and call up (or text, whichever floats your boat) a few of your friends from the Class of 2000-whenever-you-graduated, because they're probably bored out of their minds as well.

3. Be a tourist in your own home town

Giphy

If you live in a big city, this is super easy to do because I'm sure you haven't done EVERYTHING there is to do in your hometown. Grab your family or friends and be the tacky tourists you've grown to hate.

4. Work

Giphy

I'm not just talking about singing Rihanna's hit single. The holidays are fastly approaching and since you've been too busy stressing over homework and tests, you're broke! If you're still in contact with a former boss, hit him/her up and ask to pick up a few shifts!

5. Spend time with family

Giphy

Isn't that what the holidays are about anyways?

6. Workout

Giphy

If a friend from home has a gym membership and they can bring people with them, ask to be their gym buddy for a few weeks!

7. Update your resume

Giphy

As a college student, always make sure that you're resume is up to date, because you never know when the opportunity comes along when you may need it!

8. Search for a job/internship

Giphy

Since you've already updated your resume, you can start looking for jobs or applying to summer internships! College seniors, the time to start applying for full-time jobs after graduation is NOW! So make sure those resumes, cover letters, and portfolios are in tip-top shape!

9. Have a bonfire

Giphy

Remember all those notes you had to take? Remember the textbooks that you bought from the school bookstore and can't resell them back? Let them be the fuel to this fire. BURN IT ALL!

10. Start learning a new language

Giphy

Do you want to feel cultured and want to learn a new language? Now is the time!

11. Change up your hair

Giphy

New year, new you!

12. Treat yo self!

Giphy

It's been a long semester. Get together with your mom and treat yourselves to a nice spa day because honey, you deserve it.

13. Drive around town and look at Christmas decorations

Giphy

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Go out and enjoy the pretty lights your community has put up!

14. Sleep until oblivion

Giphy

You couldn't do it while you were in school, so catch up on it now!

15. Volunteer

Giphy

It's always a good thing to give back to your community, and it's the best time to do that when you don't have anything else going on.

16. Re-organize your playlists

Giphy

Kick out all those songs that you skip every time and add the new hits you can't stop listening to!

17. Donate to charity

Giphy

Whether it's just putting your spare change in a Salvation Army bucket or donating lightly worn clothes and blankets to a homeless shelter, the holidays are for giving even to those who are less fortunate than others. Make sure that everyone has a happy holiday season!

18. Do some online shopping that doesn't harm your bank account

Giphy

Since you probably got some money for Christmas from your family, you can get yourself a little Christmas gift that you may have forgotten to tell someone else to get for you.

19. Bake!

Giphy

That recipe you pinned on Pinterest four months ago is calling your name! Go find it and make Martha Stewart proud!

20. Watch Christmas movies

Giphy

Curl up on the couch with your significant other, your BFFs, your parents, or your pets and have a Christmas movie marathon!

Now you'll never feel bored during your Winter Break! Happy Holidays everyone!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
