Procrastination is so easy but trying to stop procrastination is harder. Here are some tips to help you out!

Make a plan for yourself, and stick with it.

Tell yourself that you will not procrastinate anymore and start doing that right away. Tell yourself that you will not get up until everything has been done.

Find ways to stop feeling so pressured

Feeling pressured is completely okay, but try to do something that will help you feel less pressured because it can affect how you do your tasks in a timely manner. If you take care of yourself and relax, you will get your to-do list done much faster along with feeling better.

Start working on something small, and test yourself from there.

If you truly want to stop procrastinating, then try working on something small which can mean anything, not just "work." For example, can try writing something on your computer and when you get tired, tell yourself to work on that piece for a little longer and that you will do it now not "later" because you probably will put off longer than you think.

If you are going to put something off, give yourself a set time.

I am definitely not encouraging procrastination (in fact, I could use some of these tips for myself), but overcoming procrastination doesn't happen overnight. So telling yourself to do those house chores in three hours is much better than saying you will do it "later" and will help you do things much faster, whether you consciously know it or not.

Have a good attitude.

Think of it this way: how bad can the task you are about to undertake possibly be? Try to make it fun, tell yourself that you are being productive, and keep that mood going until you are done. I think this is what helps me the most because looking at a huge to-do list can be overwhelming unless you become positive about it.

Realize that you don't have to be a perfectionist.

Keep in mind that you have one goal and one goal only: to stop procrastinating. If you want to start becoming a perfectionist because you think it will benefit you, that is up to you but don't add extra tension. Going overboard will not help you.

This is cliche, but hear me out when I say to write it all down.

I know that you may not be the "type" of person to write things down, but even so, I encourage anyone to write your reminders down or put it in your phone. At first, I thought that reminding myself to do things by journal or phone wouldn't help me but I tried it and now I do it all the time because I love seeing all the tasks in an orderly fashion. Try it and you might be surprised.

Focus, focus, focus! (AKA: Put your phone down!)

Put your phone down. Get rid of anything that is distracting you. Don't do anything until you're done with your task. It might be hard at first until you adjust. All you have to do is be more strict towards yourself to get everything done early.

Know that you will most likely regret it later.

If you don't do your task now, there will be consequences whether your task has a deadline or not. You will feel more burdened and if you suddenly have other things to do, you will start to stress. If you are procrastinating school work and end up doing it at the last minute, it will lose quality and you will regret it.

Lastly: just do it!

I can't give you better advice than this. What will really happen if you do not complete your task now? What do you gain from it? If there is something you still need to do, finish it right now and relax later. It will feel so much better, and you are going to want to stop procrastinating for good!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
