You would think by my junior year of college, I would have the hang of things like moving in, registering for classes on time, and handling the craziness of being a double major. But that would be a big no. I still struggle with moving in. I'm that girl that still brings too much stuff after two full years of living on campus. I haven't actually registered for classes on time since Fall 2014 (I think). I finished my registration this year on the first day of classes. Go me! The life of a double major, though, will never ever get easier. And with my situation, I'm practically a triple major. This semester is especially hard. I am taking 21 credits worth of classes, but I'm only taking 18 credits. However, this year is going to be an adventure. I'm working on being more open to new experiences. We've only been in classes for two days, and I've already gone to the rodeo, rode a crazy (awful) ride at the fair, gone down a slip n slide twice, and gotten involved in a powder paint war. These are things I would have never done before. I am joyous about this year. I am expectant. Most of all, I am over the top excited for this year.
As a student at a Christian college, the Word really is my rock. I haven't been doing the best of jobs to study and really get in to the Word, but that's a goal I intend to complete this school year. So here's a few verses that I'm starting off my junior year with. Enjoy!
1. Ecclesiastes 1:2 "Everything is meaningless," says the Teacher, "completely meaningless! This is one of my favorite verses. Actually, the book of Ecclesiastes is my favorite book. It brings me so much peace. This particular verse helps me remember that my student loans, my financial situation, my career, etc., won't matter once I'm in heaven. When I read the book of Ecclesiastes, I also listen to "Vapor Meditation" by The Liturgists ft. Michael Gungor. It's about a nine minute meditation, but it is so enlightening and freeing.
2. Ephesians 5:15-16 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. This speaks for its self.
3. Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. This is another one of my favorite verses. I based one of my student choreography pieces off of Romans 12:2 back in the Spring 2016 semester. I love this though. It reminds me that Jesus renews me. That though Him, I can conquer the cliche of society. It also reminds me just to live through Him.
4. Joshua 1:9 "This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Just yes. Such good encouragement.
5. Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. A classic, but great verse.
The Bible is filled with encouraging words. It is a guide. It's literally the instruction book for life. This year I plan to really get in to the Word. It's going to help me conquer so much. Here's to junior year!
