As an introverted person, I have been known to keep to myself and be perfectly fine in doing that. We introverts only really become extroverted when we are around people we are close to, but sometimes not even then. Our ways of living our lives makes complete sense to us, and we tend to get tired of people telling us to ¨stop thinking so much¨. In a nutshell, it´s not like we don´t like people, but we have our certain people we do like and sometimes we simply prefer to be alone. Here are some common struggles that all of us introverts face on a mostly a daily basis:
1. Group projects
Who do I choose, the one who hardly talks in class or the one who never shuts up? Are they smart? Do they have brains? Can I trust them? Do they like me?
2. Meeting new people.
Who are they? What do they look like? Are they nice? Do they like dogs? Do dogs like them?
3. Needing alone time
I cannot wait to get home to go to sleep.. to be in a quiet room, away from all of the people who talk really loud about nothing important.
4. Going to parties
Let me just tell you, we are not ¨party people¨. We will be awkward, say strange things or nothing at all and likely look at our phones all night, unless of course there is a cute dog there to love on to pass by the dragging time
5. Being told you think too much
But what if I have schoolwork? But what if they don´t like me? But what if I get a bad grade? But what if something gets on my shirt? But what if I get hungry? Or thirsty?
6. You would rather get texts or emails instead of phone calls
They want me to list my phone number? Why? Is texting appropriate? E-mail? Do they have to call me?
7. You wear headphones to avoid unnecessary small talk
I don´t know you. I don´t have time to listen to your joke. I just need to get to class. Please let me go to class...
8. You're great at making excuses for getting out of plans
I love my friends. I love my family. BUT if the option is to get dressed up, wear something uncomfortable, and go somewhere where there are a lot of strangers, I vote to stay at home in my PJs and to watch Netflix with my dog.
