Sorority formals are like your high school prom, but way more intense. Formal season is the time to redo all the mistakes you made at your prom, like learning which foundation stays on the longest, which heels hurt your feet the least and what kind of date you want to bring. A lot goes into formal, and while it’s always a blast, leading up to the big night is stressful and very time-consuming.

1. The dress

Short or long? Pink or blue? Tight or flowy? With so many options, it's hard to know what the best choice will be. We've all been there- ordering a bunch of dresses online and crossing your fingers in the hopes that one will look good. Finding the perfect dress is an important part of a sorority formal that can make or break how comfortable you feel and how much fun you're willing to have.

2. The preperation

If you're like me, you're used to wearing leggings and oversized t-shirts to class. That's why when it's formal season, it's that much more fun to get all dressed up and look your best. Between the hard to manage spray tans, tedious manicures, and complicated hairstyles, a lot goes into looking your best on the night of formal. Despite it being fun to get all pampered, it can be overwhelming.

3. The date

Finding the perfect date is the most crucial part of going to formal. You want someone that you can have fun with, but also maybe someone you're interested in getting to know in a way that isn't purely friendship. However, it can be stressful to bring someone who doesn't really know your friends or isn't totally familiar with the sorority life. PSA- Don't let a bad date affect your time at formal. This is about you having a blast with your sisters, not about him complaining about wanting to party with his bros.

4. The photos

Putting so much effort into your appearance calls for endless photo opportunities. But there's nothing worse than not being happy with the photos you get after all that hard work. There's the risk of foundation flashback, bad venue lighting, and an unenthusiastic date- none of which does anyone want.

5. The dance

At a lot of formals, people have had a few drinks in an attempt to relax around their dates and let loose on the dance floor. Finding the balance between how you want your formal to go and an awkward middle school dance can be challenging when the dancing portion of the night rolls around. The cupid shuffle can only take someone so far.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
