RPGs (aka: role-playing-games) take you on the greatest of adventures into fantastical worlds of wonder. There are infinite amounts of corners to explore and so much to do in each of them. So many great titles have graced us with their gaming worlds and we have gotten to do so much in them. Sadly, in all RPGs, there are things we as gamers always run into....always.
1. When did I last save?
Sometimes you play the game for so long that saving is the least of your worries, but then some catastrophic event happens like your game stops or you die. So that three hours of continuous gameplay just turned to nothing, have fun!
2. The path leads....A BUTTERFLY!
I'm on the right p...OH MY GOD A BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLY! Wait where was....A DRAGON IS OVER YONDER I MUST GO SLAY IT! What quest was I on again? WHO CARES I SEE MOAR ENEMIES TO KILL!
3. But my sword is so cool!
You have the coolest looking gear in the game, but sadly the next item you gear looks like it came from a think tank of monkeys, what makes matters even worse though is that it's 10x better than your gear.
4. Can this even protect me?
To all of my fellow female gamers/ characters, I'm sorry that we have the same armor, but yours barely covers anything, I swear it has the same stats. You ask why your armor is like that? Oh...it's because....it is more effective for moving around?
5. All your quests belong to us.
Well you just finished your full quest log of 12 quests and then you stumble into your next town. Your first sight is 56 golden question marks from quest givers...and then when you finish all of those, the cycle repeats itself and you add 13 more quests from your travels (refer to 2. again).
6. Morality
You're given choices in some games, but sometimes these choices change your game as a whole. I'm looking at you Bioware, and you never know what is truly the right decision. Sometimes being the person no one likes sucks, but being everyone's friend sometimes sucks too. Well guess it's time to bring everyone down altogether!
7. How long has it been?
Sometimes you get so distracted (refer to 2.) that, "I'll get off at 12" ends up being 32 quests later and you regretting playing till 7 a.m.
8. I'm mister lonely...
Sometimes when you're adventuring, it gets lonely, all you want is a friend to play with. Sadly that will never happen. Maybe someone can make a mod for it three years later or something. Or maybe there could be teammates to fill the void! Questing as a group to save the (enter "troubled" world here)! (Refer to 9.).
9. When the A.I. have a mind of their own.
Sometimes you get AI to aid you in your quest, sometimes they help you, sometimes (a lot) they don't and end up being more of a burden than anything. You can play the rest of the game alone now, sorry (refer to 8).
10. When there's no end game.
So you've spent 30+ hours playing the game and all that's left is to go around the towns and wreck havoc on the innocent townsfolk. Guess it's time to get a super high bounty!
11. Wait I can't go in there?
No boundary will ever stop us! Except the countless sealed doors and invisible walls that stand in our way that will hold us back! There is so much to explore, but companies hold us back on our will to explore!
So no matter what RPG you spend your time in, you are bound to run into some of these. May the gaming gods grant you the best of loot and may it look great with the rest of your gear!
