14 Struggles Of People Who Are Always Cold

Any room colder than 70 degrees is too cold.

Always being cold is a constant struggle. It means you're constantly in discomfort even if you bring an extra layer with you everywhere. The struggle is amplified if you live with someone who is always hot like I do. My roommate turns the thermostat down, and as soon as she leaves for class, I have to turn it back up or wrap myself in my blanket like a burrito. Here's 14 common struggles everyone who's always cold understands:

1. Always bringing a jacket.

I don't care if it's 70 degrees outside, I'm going to bring a jacket with me. You never know if it'll be cold inside. What if the wind's blowing and it's cloudy?

2. Adjusting the thermostat.

I adjust the thermostat at least once a day, mostly to turn it up so the cold air doesn't blow on me. I don't like having to wear a jacket in my dorm room.

3. Needing extra blankets.

Hotels are the worst about this because the hotel rooms are always cold. A sheet and a comforter is not enough blankets when the air blows on you all night.

4. People who complain that it's too hot.

You're over here wearing a coat indoors. Then someone else whines that it's too hot and opens a window.

5. People who complain that they're sweating.

I would rather be sweating than freezing. Yes, you can always add layers, but no one wants to wear a long sleeve shirt, a hoodie and a coat inside.

6. Doubling up on socks in winter.

Trying to keep your toes from going numb can be fighting the inevitable. You cram a pair of fuzzy socks over your normal socks, and then spend 10 minutes shoving your feet into your shoes only for your toes to go numb from being squeezed too tight.

7. When people tell you that your hands are cold.

Maybe I should double up on gloves too or maybe I'll just sit on my hands to keep them warm.

8. Getting out of the shower.

Getting out is the worst part of the shower, because you go from scalding water to cold and wet tile. Even though you hurry to wrap your towel around you, it's not as warm as the water.

9. Avoiding the shade because it's colder.

Sunny days are the best days because even if it's cold out, walking in the sun will be a little warmer. The problem is when you have to walk in the shadow of a tall building.

10. Cutting through buildings to get to class.

In winter, it's so much nicer to cut through buildings than to walk outside the whole way to class. The only problem is that it takes longer, and going from hot to cold too much can make you sick.

11. The frozen food aisle.

Whether you're wearing shorts or jeans, walking past the frozen food aisle is rough. It's like walking through the penguin house at the zoo in winter.

12. The shivers you get from eating ice cream.

It could be 90 degrees outside, and I'd still shiver after eating ice cream. It also makes your fingers cold, but it's totally worth it.

13. Going to the gym in winter.

It's below freezing outside, so you have to wear a winter coat and sweatpants over your shorts. Then you have all these extra layers with you. Plus, after you're done sweating you don't really want to put your coat back on. You do it anyway though, because it's way too cold outside.

14. Winter.

Winter in general is the worst. It's cold. You have to wear multiple layers to stay warm. You have to walk to class when there's mushy snow on the ground. Why can't humans hibernate?

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.
