We never truly appreciate what we have until it’s gone; or until we go to college and your mom isn’t there to clean up your room, cook you meals, and basically keep your life together. I’m going through my senior year and my life resembles the after math of Hurricane Katrina.
1. You are constantly shoving things into the trunk of your car because you’re picking someone up and don’t want them to think you’re a nomad.
2. When you borrow clothes from a friend there’s always a panic attack that comes when attempting to find it for them when they ask for it back.
3. It’s hard to hide your true messy self when living with roommates, so you try to justify your lifestyle in every way possible.
4. If there’s one thing you hate the most, it’s when visitors come unannounced. IF YOU HAVE ANY SORT OF RESPECT FOR ME YOU WILL GIVE ME AT LEAST 24 HOURS NOTICE.
But when these things do occur, this is what happens.
5. When someone new comes over to hangout and you forget to clean up, you always have to come up with some sort of excuse.
"I JUST finished unpacking (from your trip two months ago) so my clothes are everywhere."
"Sorry for the mess. I'm in the process of reorganizing my room."
"Oh my god, my friends totally trashed my room this morning, I'm getting nauseous just looking at it. We must leave immediately."
"I'VE BEEN ROBBED"
Meanwhile, the other person is all like ...
6. Nothing is worse than when someone tries to help you clean.
7. You see how neat and organized your friends are so you constantly ask them for tips, hoping you’ll get your shit together once and for all.
8. So you attempt to become organized and become an adult until you realize that instead of slaving away at something that will eventually become a mess again, you could be in bed watching Netflix and searching for hidden chocolate bars underneath your bed.
