The Struggles of Having Morning Classes

You look like a mess.

Why morning classes even exist is beyond me. They really shouldn't be a thing but some people can handle morning classes and sometimes it's the move when you get out early too. However, the night before when you have to stay up late or the annoying sound of your blaring alarm at 6 a.m. makes getting up in the mornings a real struggle. Here are eight of the most frustrating morning class struggles we all experience:

1. You have to go to sleep earlier

Rather than going to sleep at 3 a.m. like you normally would, you have to go to sleep at midnight so you have enough hours of sleep to function in the morning. You miss out on funny moments between your other roommates or awesome junk TV that's on super early. The struggle.

2. You have to rely on coffee way too much

You can't make it through a morning without a pick-me-up and sadly you have no energy in your body even after a solid amount of sleep, so you have to drink way too much coffee that supports your already too high coffee addiction.

3. Everybody else is sleeping

Usually, if you have a morning class, your friends do not. Which means you have to try not to wake up your roommates and you have nobody to talk to in the morning. It gets lonely and boring and you wish you were sleeping.

4. You look like a disaster

Because you have to wake up so early but you want to sleep in to the latest point that you can so you give up doing your makeup and hair for sleep. When you get to class, you seek comfort in seeing other students in their sweats and glasses and take a nice sigh of relief.

5. You're always hungry

You choose to sleep in late enough that you don't really have time to eat breakfast so your stomach is grumbling all through class and it's super obnoxious and embarrassing.

6. Sometimes you sleep through your alarm

Yeah, sometimes you don't even make it to class because your snooze button is more important and you just sleep right through your class.

7. You fall asleep in your other classes

You have to make up for that lost sleep somehow and, sadly, it is by sleeping in your other classes.

8. You have to do it all again

Unfortunately, morning classes are not just a one time thing. If you have one, you have several through out the week every week and this process repeats itself indefinitely until the end of the semester.

Maybe next semester I'll try harder to get later classes. There are just too many struggles to do this all again next semester. Sorry, professor, I can't make it in today, I'm too busy sleeping away my grades.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
