Having a learning disorder in college can be both good and bad. I have dealt with having LD's through high school which was okay, but it is better in college. But there are some struggles I find time to time or sometimes every day actually. If you have LD's and in college or school you may be able to understand what I am talking about here.

Well for me I have ADD among other things, and not to be confused with ADHD. Having ADD in college is okay when I have my Adderall working and I am on fire. But then you feel the burn out at the end of the day and you almost want to pass out of exhaustion. Although college classes are only an hour long and I only have 4 or 5 classes a week, it can be pretty exhausting to pay attention while also having to write papers and homework afterward and not to mention trying to get as much stuff done before the medication wears off. Don't even get me started on evening and night classes.

Another one of my LD's I struggle with in college is APD which means that I take longer to comprehend and understand the information the professor is talking about. Not only do I have to try and pay attention, but I have to try and comprehend all the information I am learning enough to have to write a paper on it. For those who don't have learning disorders, I know this sounds ridiculous to you like these are small problems, but they don't feel small when your living with them every day.

College is exhausting, for everyone but mainly those who struggle with learning disorders every day. Trying to handwrite notes when you're dyslexic, comprehend the material, paying attention even though your thinking of a million other things, trying to maintain your focus long enough to get your homework done before your Adderall comes off.

A word of advice I found, though, and I kind of took this idea from my boyfriend. Get up earlier, go to the library before class and do some work while your waiting. Then take your medication right before class starts. I can only do this trick on the days I don't have an 8 am, but on the days I don't I go to breakfast early, grab a coffee and go to the library. I generally I enjoy the library because I am surrounded by studious students who encourage me to stay focused.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
