Through out the course of this year I came to a realization. I think 2017 is the year to make us all stronger, but not without letting us crash and burn first. Because of this I was inspired to write this article. You see, in the moment of everything falling apart we are too blind to see, how what we see as a tragedy now, is really a set up to make us better than we were before. And since 2017 is quickly becoming a year filled with male disappointment for many of those I know, I want to make sure you all know that this set back will not hold you back.
I know it all seems confusing right now, whether you saw this coming or were completely blinded sided by your disappointment. It still doesn't seem to make sense one hundred percent and unfortunately, I can't promise that it will ever make sense (as I sit here months later still trying to put puzzle pieces together myself). I can promise you that it does get better and MUCH easier, I might even add that it could all be worth it in the end.
I get that the future seems terrifying. You had things planned out and knew exactly how you wanted your life to look, and the poof it's gone in an instant. Here's the deal, don't stress about the future. The best thing to learn that life can give you is to take everything day by day. Find joy in the little moments, because it's those things that will make you the happiest even on your worst days.
Don't be afraid to have a bad day. I won't lie to you, nothing about this is going to be easy. So don't focus so much on trying to pretend that you can hold it all together all the time. Some days you're going to want to just lay in bed and watch movies all day while eating comfort food. To that I say, call up a good friend and do it; you don't even have to talk, sometimes the moral support is what helps the most.
Take a day and get dressed up, it won't be easy but it will help. In times like this, you forget just how powerful self-love can be. So gather up the confidence and your effort and do your hair, your make up, find an outfit that makes you feel unstoppable; get together with some friends and have good old fashion girls night. It doesn't seem like much and may seem like a lot of work, considering the condition you're in right now, but it will make a whole world of difference.
You will be lost for a while, but that's okay. Once the sting has worn off you will be trying just about anything to make you feel like yourself again. However, what I'm about to tell you may seem scary, you won't be able to go back to being that same person you were before. You see, in the process of all of this you are have the built a bigger, better, stronger you; now you just have to find her and let her shine. It will take some ups and downs, you may even meet some new people along the way who help you find this person, and you may learn that people you thought were there for you really weren't; but let me tell you once you find this person inside of you, it will all be worth it.
