This is an open letter to the three women who have impacted me in the 19 years of life. Thanks to these three women, I am who I am today and who I will be in the future as a wife, mother and aunt. I love you three very, very much.

First and foremost, I would like to thank my mom.

You gave birth to me and raising me into the strong woman I am today. You have taught me how to be strong even when I can't hold myself up. You have taught me how to be true to myself even when everyone else around me wants me to change. I am forever grateful to you. I know I was not easy growing up with my hard head, but you still loved me. We have had our ups and downs just like any other mother and daughter, but the last couple years have been mostly ups. You have helped me mature beyond my years.

Second, I would like to thank my aunt.

You are not only my aunt, but you are my second mom. You would be the first person I go to if anything ever happened to my parents. You always are so open to me staying with you, even if you already have a full house. You taught me how to come out of my shell, for which I am extremely grateful. I would get annoyed by your constant nagging at me to get off of my phone and actually socialize. You have also set an example as to how I want to be as an aunt.

And last but not least, I would like to thank my sister in law.

Thank you for keeping my head on my shoulders these last 4-6 years. You are the sister I finally got after years and years of asking Santa to bring me one. You are much better than I had hoped for. You have taught me a lot about life in the short amount of time I have known you. You have taught me how to stand on my own two feet and to not take crap from anyone. I strive for independence because of that.

Because of you three strong women in my life, I have grown into the strong 19 years old I am today. I will continue to grow stronger every day and will continue to better myself.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
