10 Things To Give Up For A Stress-Free Life

In This Article:

We always tend to nibble off more than we can chew in our day-to-day life, which can lead to breakdowns and a life full of stress. If you're looking for a few tips and tricks on how to lessen that stress, here are 10 things that you need to get rid of in order to finally chop off a little bit of anxiety from your own life:

Perfection

Nothing in life can ever be perfect and you have to come to an understanding of that.

If you're constantly seeking 'perfection' in your life that in itself can fill you up with anxious thoughts and stress.

Give up the thought of perfection, take a deep breath and accept that 'perfection' does not really exist, but that it is sufficient to just try your best in everything you do.

Over-thinking

What is done is already done.

Do not beat yourself up about things that have already happened and that will stay in the past.

Your mind is a roller-coaster of emotions, but do not let it overpower you and just continue moving forward.

Regrets

Remember that regrets are not the same thing as feeling remorse.

It is completely understandable to feel emotions of remorse over certain things or events, but also keep in mind that everything in life has a special purpose, whether for the good or bad.

Do not regret the things that have unfolded in your life because they have made you the person that you are today.

It's important to understand that experiences have allowed you to mature, learn, and grow to continue confronting the obstacles that are put forth.

Toxic people

No, this is not "Toxic" by Britney Spears, but the 'toxic' concept is something that you should keep in mind.

Without realization, we sometimes have people in our lives who bring our own confidence and self-esteem down daily. Instead of their company bringing joy and good-times, they bring stress upon us.

Even the closest of our friends and family could be the ones that are bringing stress upon our lives, and it is important to distinguish who needs to be maintained far away and who needs to be closer in our lives.

Gossip

Of course, we all love hearing some true 'tea' once in awhile, but it is also important to maintain a balance of respect for the lives of others and not drown ourselves in all of the chaos and problems of other people.

Without realizing it, when we are letting drama become part of our daily lives, we are letting other people into our own private lives and also invading theirs.

Know your boundaries, give up some of your own 'tea,' and back away from the drama to relieve some stress from your life.

Procrastination

Yes, I understand that it can be difficult to keep track of everything we have to do in our lives. But, if we stop completing tasks or assignments last minute, we can relieve some of that stress.

Planners or calendars can be a great way to break work down into small chunks and organize your life just a bit more!

Overloads

Simple enough: Never bite off more than you can chew.

If you put too much on your plate, it can tend to be very overloading.

Always do what you think you can handle , and let go of the things that you can't.

Saying 'Yes' to everything

Stop saying 'yes' to everything and everyone around you!

If you can't make it to a certain event or cannot do somebody a favor, then remember that it's ok to say 'no' and that you can never please everyone.

Social media

No, I'm not saying that you should completely shut down social media, but manage it smartly.

We tend to get involved too much with social media and what people may think about us through it.

If we use it in a smart manner and avoid over using it, then it will allow us to enjoy the present moment, enjoy the time with our loved ones, and lessen stress.

Bitterness and unforgiveness

Giphy

Don't be bound to your past, forgive those around you and move on!

You will be able to open up yourself to new opportunities and your emotional state will improve.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

Sometimes my brain just starts turning on an idea and it doesn't want to stop.
