Baking can be a wonderful pastime seeing as it's both fun and rewarding. You get the luxury of making something wonderful that you can eat afterwards. Then there's stress baking, often caused by, well, stress and in many of our cases, due to college.
Stress baking is when you basically relieve stress by baking, however you can't just bake one thing. Somehow, us stress bakers always end up making at minimum two things and even spending entire nights baking up a storm. There are nights where you tell yourself you'll only make one or two things only to find yourself cleaning the kitchen at 4am with 6 or 7 different trays of baked goods surrounding you.
You will often find yourself in your kitchen pulling out the ingredients you need absent-mindedly and getting started using that recipe you know by heart. You're too stressed for life so what better thing to do than, well, bake! It's become a routine by now for some of us stress bakers, often convening with fellow bakers of the sort to whip up endless amounts of treats that are typically left in the kitchen of said res hall for the world to consume.
So how can you tell you're a stress baker? That's easy. You find yourself wanting to bake something every time you feel the stress of college, life, whatever gets you. Due to your love of baking, simply looking for new recipes is a source of unwinding from the piles of homework and readings. There are sleepless nights not caused by school work, but by baking and hours spent on the internet looking for the latest inspiration. You might also love Martha Stewart.
Whether you're a stress baker or not I feel that most of us can agree that baked goods are fabulous. So if you know any stress bakers, show them some love by eating their baked goods when you know they're in the kitchen.
