The other day I came across a saying from a recent fortune cookie that states to “look for someone’s strengths instead of weaknesses”.
Look for strengths instead of weaknesses.Which basically means to give others grace.
Author Lailah Gifty Akita says “we all face difficult times. It is only the grace of God that gives us strength to endure.”.
I think that it was fate that I came across this quote. Grace. Looking at the beauty of the flaws of others. Looking at the strengths instead of the weaknesses. This is a true rarity in the society that we live in.
As it says in 2 Corinthians 12:9 “’My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
God gives us grace unconditionally. Loves us unconditionally, despite our faults. If only we could try to treat others with the same fondness.
And yet, we, rarely treat others with the same regard. With grace. With love. With kindness.
A simple fortune cookie. Yet such profound words. Such remembrance of what God wants for us.
As it says in 1 John 4:19, "We love because he first loved us."
So, now I think it is time for me and you to look for the strengths in the weaknesses.
