I can't remember the last time I sat down and watched TV, but I know for sure that I was on Hulu yesterday rewatching an old show for the third time. These days, it's all about the internet, and with the internet, we have Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, and numerous other streaming services that, with the right and usually low price, is ad-free. With this gift that humanity has given me, these are the shows I keep going back to without ever having to wait on a commercial.
1. 'One Tree Hill'
GiphyThis one's got everything you need - teenage angst and drama that eventually leads to adult angst and drama, romance, the occasional action scene that has you on the edge of your seat. The characters grow, make mistakes, learn, and keep going. What's not to love?
2. 'Teen Wolf'
GiphyFinally, a show about werewolves that doesn't involve a generations-long feud with the local vampires! Werewolves with control over their shift, and not just on the full moon! A host of supernatural creatures that are still ultimately human at the end of the day! And, of course, Stiles Stilinski, the human who is never anything else. Such a great show to sit, watch, and fangirl over (or fanboy - we don't judge).
3. 'Supernatural'
GiphyOkay, admittedly, for a few seasons, it got a little iffy. But season nine brought us back and it's still going strong! This is the show that demonstrates the strength of familial love, as well as showing that "family don't end with blood". What's perhaps most inspiring is the family the show has created in real life, from the actors to the fan base and everything in between. Of course, there is heartbreak galore, but that is the price we must pay for such a show.
4. 'Game of Thrones'
GiphySpeaking of heartbreak and tragedy, what an amazing job this does of capturing your attention and making you feel more than just contentment for another good show. Warnings, of course, for violence, language, nudity, and Cersei Lannister's particular brand of crazy. It's truly remarkable how this one demonstrates bad blood between different Houses and the slow, creeping fear of winter and everything it brings in its wake.
5. 'Friends'
GiphyPrepare to laugh, to cry, to become absolutely furious with Ross basically any time he opens his mouth (or maybe that's just me). "Friends" is the definition of squad goals. We all need a Chandler Bing and Joey Tribbiani in our lives. I, myself, have been labeled as a Phoebe by my best friend, who I made watch the show with me. Who says the '90s are out? They never will be with a popular show like this on Netflix.
6. 'The Office'
GiphyLet's be real, we all aspire to have a love like Jim and Pam's. Or perhaps Michael and Holly, who make you cringe in the best (and worst) ways. A job does not have to be just a job, as is expressed in this documentary-like series, and embarrassment for every single one of us is inevitable. Not one character is perfect, which makes it so easy to relate to. 10/10 would watch again (or rewatch for the fifth time, but who's counting?).
