If you're like me, or any other student here at Bloomsburg University student, I'm sure you either have a Netflix account or know someone with a Netflix account. Because I have so much down time between classes (that's a joke) I enjoy watching new series on Netflix and recently my roommates and I discovered the new Netflix original series Stranger Things.
Don't worry, reading this will not spoil the entire show for you, rather my goal is to give you some insight into the series and get you to want to learn more. Stranger Things is meant to be a sci-fi film, but there are so many more themes that seem to come into play such as drama, horror, and even a little bit of romance here and there. The series is based in the year 1983 and you can definitely tell from the style and settings that Netflix was pretty spot on with their recreation of that time period and it adds to the show so much.
Guaranteed, if you do have the time to be able to sit down and watch the entire 8 episode series in one day, you'll try your best to do so. Stranger Things is one of those shows that keeps you on the edge of your seat every second and there's a cliff hanger at the end of each episode and once it ends you're just craving more. To give you a brief overview, the series follows three boys who lose their friend in the beginning of the first episode. These boys then come into contact with a girl who was being used by the government as an experiment to make contact with a world that they called the "upside down" and this girl has special powers unlike anything the boys have ever seen.
This girl agrees to help these boys find their friend while trying to escape the government as well as keep the boys safe and out of harm's way using her powers. There is a new twist and turn at every corner of this show. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll scream, it's essentially a roller coaster full of emotion, but trust me it's so worth it. If you enjoy classic 80's movies you're going to love Stranger Things.
