Need a new Netflix series to binge watch this summer? Well, I've got the answer. "Stranger Things." This one season, eight episode show will have you hooked instantly, and even extremely frustrated once you finish it in an entire day and realize well, that's it. Anyone who is into supernatural/science fiction, this is totally the show for you.
Set in a small town in Indiana during the 1980s, a 12-year-old-boy named Will goes missing in a very mysterious way. His mother, played by well-known, award winning actress Winona Ryder, is skeptical of his disappearance and goes to further motives to figure out what really happened to her son, along with Will's three best friends, the bad ass Mike, Lucas and Dustin. They come across a young girl who goes by the name "Eleven." She is very confused and knows almost no language and ends up becoming a close friend of theirs despite their skepticism. She even helps the boys figure out what really happened to Will. Sounds interesting right? Well, it is way more intense than that (I don't want to give too much away).
I was completely blown away by this show and finished the entire series in a day, (it was humid and raining out, so I don't feel guilty) but I would do it all again in a second. The cast is phenomenal, and it is even better that the entire plot of the series is ran by these young kids, which makes it way cooler. These young boys are so destined to find the truth behind Will's disappearance, and they go to extreme lengths to do so, with very little fear of the possible consequences. Along with the boys, Will's brother is an awesome character as well as his mother, played by Winona Ryder, who is one of my personal favorites. The show all around is completely awesome, besides the finale, which leaves with a total cliff hanger and some unanswered questions.
Apparently, a season two is currently in the works, and I can only hope so. This show is one of the best I've seen in a while, and this is coming from a series freak, despite me watching the same ones over and over. It's easy to get into and easy to understand, completely captivating. If you're ever bored on a rainy day, or even a beautiful one, I totally suggest binge watching this awesome show.
