If you loved Queen Bey's visual album, you'll love Todrick's as well. After all, he was inspired by Bey's Lemonade visual album. There is 16 songs on his album (others not featured but seen on his visual album), all of which have deeper meanings having to do with his life or what he sees in society. Some of his songs are deep and some are just plain fun.
Todrick and many others sing on topics like being openly gay, movements like #blacklivesmatter, the music industry and how people can take advantage of you. Here are my top 5 favorites (it was really hard to pick):
5. Color
Color talked about Todrick thinking he had his life together, everything was black and white. He had an amazing girlfriend, but everything changed when he met his boyfriend. All of the color in the world became visible.
In the song he's accompanied by Jay Armstrong Johnson.
4. Little People
This song talks about making it big but never forgetting where you're from. Everyone that rooted for you in the beginning will always be there, you can't forget the little people.
He featured so many people in this song, all of whom play a part for him.
3. Dumb
"Anyway, if I have blue button eyes and blonde hay
Would I make the magazine on the best page?
Be the leading man, if I was less gay?
If I was a woman would you try to give me less pay?"
Those are some lyrics from the song which brought up three very serious problems that are going on in today's society, all to the beat of a catchy tune.
2. Papi
Nicole Scherzinger sings in this song with Todrick. It talks about getting close to his dream as a singer, but sometimes people taking advantage. It showed Nicole playing a very important woman who says she can change his life and make his future bright. She pretty much tries to seduce him but fails to realize he's gay.
It's my second because I LOVE Nicole.
1. Water Gun
Jordan Sparks is featured in this song in which they pay tribute to Christina Grimmie and Trayvon Martin.
" Ashamed how the game of cops and robbers
ain't a game now"
Todrick explained how growing up it was just a game, but the world changed.
These next lyrics are sung by Jordan Sparks. They're pretty self-explanatory but she talks about how shooting with water guns are all fun and just play but now these aren't water guns anymore.
"These ain't water guns
And please save all our sons and daughters
What we fighting for?
Cause these ain't water guns
Water guns, no more"
TRUST ME ALL THE SONGS ARE AMAZING.
I hope I've somehow convinced you to listen to at least one of these songs. The whole album is worth it, and the beats are amazing. Just listen for yourself. I've got to thank my good friend Bradlee for getting me to listen to this album.
I hope you question why this hasn't been played on the radio yet, just like me.
