Dear Ikea, You're The Store That Always Has Everything I Need, And More
Ikea

My dearest Ikea,

There are many words I could use to describe you, but I am going to sum it all up with one phrase. You are the best store in the entire world. I could never ask for a store more wonderful than you. You have amazed me from the first day that I met you. Your blue exterior is just like the deepest blues of the ocean, and your bright yellow signage never fails to take my breath away as I drive up for a visit.

You are always there for me. You are capable of being in 313 places in 38 countries at once. This means that whether I am in Brisbane, Australia enjoying the gardens; Memphis, Tennessee enjoying some music; or in Bloomington, Minnesota enjoying the Mall of America, I will always be able to turn to you for anything.

You were intimidating when I first entered your automatic sliding glass doors. I mean, there is a lot more to you than I ever realized on the outside. You house thousands of items for me to choose from. From food to containers to furniture to linens, I know you will be able to support my needs with the hundreds of items that you have inside of your stores. Your merchandise has helped me soar my way through college, and I genuinely appreciate that.

You understand that the best way to win me over is through my stomach. I love food that is tasty and affordable, and you give me the best of both worlds. Your meatballs with mashed potatoes and lingonberry sauce are to die for, and are something I crave every time I walk into your café. Your desserts are delectable, and you serve some of the best sparkling water I have ever had. Your cooking rivals some of the best cooks in the world, and it only takes a few bucks out of my pocket.

I can’t help but get lost in your aisles and aisles and aisles of products. I know very well I could take those little shortcuts that you have scattered throughout the building, but I don’t. I enjoy each and every minute I spend at Ikea, and I never want my time with you to end. I also know very well that there are things inside of you that I haven’t even discovered yet, and that is a good thing. I can’t wait to explore you more and uncover your hidden talents.

Finally, you have shown me new ways to look at life. You have introduced me to so many things that make my life easier. While spending time with you, I have learned about the baking tools that I needed to revolutionize my time in the kitchen. I have learned that you can never have too many throw pillows on a bed or a sofa. I’ve learned that a brisk walk through every aisle of your store is just as good as any trip to the gym I could have ever taken, and I have learned that shopping can be good for the mind and the soul (even if I am breaking the bank). Shopping at your store is always the best medicine for when I am not in the best mood.

If my rambling hasn’t been enough, let me finish with this last little spiel. Every single category of items in this world has its greats. Shakespeare is known for being one of the kings of literature. Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein reign supreme in the world of science. Beyoncé may run the music industry, but you are the greatest store in the land of retail. You will reign supreme in my eyes forever and always.

Love,

An Extremely Loyal Customer

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
