Why I Stopped Giving A Hoot

I've Stopped Self-Deprecating, And You Should Too

Why I Stopped Giving A Hoot

All of us are constantly fighting an internal battle- whether be want to believe it or not. All of us are heavily influenced by the media in some way, shape, or form. All of us are trying to find our place in the world and sometimes, it can be quite tricky. While many people are scared about feeling like a less of a person because they think someone is better or better off than they are, here is my guide on how to give less of a hoot:

For starters, most people are so wrapped up in themselves, what they look like, and what they are doing that they do not even pay attention to you. "Like, what the heck, man. So, you're telling me I perfectly lined my eyeliner for 2 hours for nothing?" Yes! I'm not saying half-ass your makeup or dress like an indecent human being, but stop doing it to impress people. If you enjoy doing your eyeliner or doing your makeup for two hours... go right ahead (I'm at fault. I literally do my makeup for hours when I'm bored... oops). But honestly, nobody cares. At the end of the day, who should you be trying to impress? Yourself.

This past summer I went to California with my best friend. It was a dream come true! When I came home, I had so many people tell me how lucky I was and how they could never afford or find the time to do it. I felt as if people were comparing their already awesome lives to mine and it just wasn't fair. Why am I being idolized for excessively planning a trip with my best friend? It's not like I just picked up my bags and left (I wish it were that easy). Bottom line is that other peoples success and happiness should not bring you down. Seeing other people happy should be nothing but motivation for you to be successful and find happiness. Comparing your life to others is nothing but toxic and a waste of energy.

If you are among one of the many people that self-deprecate yourself- I am here telling you to stop it. Stop worrying about what you are wearing, if other people will like you, if he likes girls with brown hair, how much more money someone else has, what other think of you, ect. Nobody honestly cares and you shouldn't either. Why waste your time and energy on things you cannot change? If you can change them, why don't you? Why waste any ounce of your time and energy trying to do and be someone that ideally doesn't make you happy? I have found so much happiness in doing my own thing. I am my own person and that is the best gift I have ever given myself.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
