Please Stop Yelling At Me To Watch The Thing

I hear you.

I know you like the thing. No, love the thing. The thing is the best thing you ever watched. The thing changed your life, the thing won 19 Emmy awards, the thing has all the actors that I love in it, the thing the thing the thing the thing. And I promise you I will get to watching the thing, I will.

But first, I have 15 other things that I have to finish. Including seven things that aren't that good anymore but feel like I have to finish because I invested so much time in them.

And honestly? Your enthusiastic recommendation of the thing is stressing me out.

Why?

Because five other people have come up to me with equally enthusiastic recommendations of the thing and now I feel left out of this group that you and all these other people are in.

So now I'm thinking, when I do get around to watching the thing, I have to pay attention because all of these people obviously care about it, and that's like a lot of pressure, ok?

But I promise, I will watch it.

And in about five years I'll have finished the pilot episode and I'll text you about it and we can discuss it even though the series probably ended already at that point.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
