Anyone who knows me well knows that I rave daily about theSkimm. If you're anything like me, the news seems about as exciting as watching paint dry (which, is intended to be an analogy for something really boring, just to clarify in case you are someone who is actually into that).
I signed up for theSkimm last year and ever since I have thrown around current events and political terms like it's nobody's business. If you're tired of feeling left out and bored by the news, you need theSkimm in your life ASAP.
So what is it? theSkimm is a daily email blast that is delivered right to your inbox, bright and early Monday-Friday. Every morning I wake up and reach for my phone to first stalk social media of course, and then do something productive by reading the important news for that day. theSkimm is run by two incredibly talented young women, Danielle Weisberg and Carly Zakin. These lovely ladies are the sole reason why I sometimes sound intelligent in conversation.
theSkimm gives you updated information on all the important world events (election results, foreign affairs, new technology, etc.). The information is relayed in a humorous way that maintains readers' interest throughout each article and makes it simple to understand. The emails read like conversations or someone thinking out loud rather than a series of straight informative sentences.
The best part about theSkimm is that it's completely free! (a college student's favorite word aside from "Chipotle"). However, if you're in the mood to splurge, you can drop $2.99 per month and download the SkimmAhead app which will add all important upcoming events to your phone calendar (think: Sports games, concerts, festivals, election dates and more). You can totally impress your friends and trick them into thinking you discovered a fun event all on your own.
theSkimm is the ultimate way to stay informed and start your day off right. And no, they did not pay me to write this article, I'm just a superfan. BUT @Danielle @Carly, if you're reading this I would gladly accept a job- *insert subtle wink*.
