I Don't Pledge Allegiance To Trump

He is a lot of things, just not a politician.

I rarely publicize my political views, but at this point everyone needs to speak out. Donald Trump is a celebrity, a businessman and a multi-millionaire, but not a politician. The POTUS is not only the leader of our nation, but a worldwide representative for democracy. Despite the current racial controversy in our country, I am proud to be from the United States of America. It's preposterous that this man has gotten this far in his campaign. I literally thought it was a joke. I had a lot more faith in the Republican Party. However, if this man is the best candidate the Republican Party can offer, then it's time for the party to re-evaluate what they stand for and how to properly convey that to the American people.

I will be voting this year, for the lesser of two evils. Hillary Clinton isn't the ideal candidate, but "I'm with her." She cares about children--they are her top priority. In the next five years, I plan on starting a family, so I prefer Clinton, because I want a secure future for my children. I trust that Hilary Clinton will provide our country with the necessaries to make those futures bright. She's qualified for the job, and is no stranger to the Oval Office. We first met her as First Lady of Arkansas, where she reformed the state's education system. Later, she was introduced to the rest of the country as First Lady of the United States, only to then transition to the senate, where she scored another first, becoming the first female senator of New York. Eight years later, Clinton became President Obama's well-traveled Secretary of State. Who better than Hillary Clinton to be our first female President.

I strongly believe that Donald Trump will run our country into the ground. He's already started, by burning bridges with some of our NATO allies, claiming that he will not act quickly to aid these countries if they enter war. Not to mention the wall he wants to build on the border of Mexico. It's as if he wants to make the country a target of war. "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." That is our current pledge; it's been that way since 1954 the beginning of the end of segregation in this country. Quite frankly that fight still isn't fully over.

If Trump is elected, it will be a major step back for humanity, a spit in the face of my ancestors, those of every other minority group, and their white counterparts that worked diligently to fix race relations in the US. We can not stand for this, my fellow millennials. It is time to burst these pop culture bubbles we live in and see what is actually happening in the real world!

Money does not make a man. Running a country is not like running a business. Donald Trump has filed bankruptcy four times, we can't afford for America to be the fifth. I strongly encourage my peers to do their research on every candidate and vote not only for you, but for who is best for our nation's future.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
