No, you see,

I won't swim downstream through the red sea,

And you won't find me hanging from a tree,

But that doesn't mean my mind is free.

Really,

As if I'd flee,

And leave my friends and family

Here to miss me.

I am not filled with glee,

But I won't actively

Search for a way to escape into my fantasy,

But what if the key

Is given to me?

Escape is wanted so badly--

You might think my soul is lovely and merry and mighty,

But it's dark and scary

With no remnant of beauty.

I talk so coldly

With no thought of apology.

Life is beginning to be

Too much to carry.

Look at me more closely,

I said I was fine, but how could I be?

With Mental Health Awareness month in full swing, it is important to recognize the signs of depression and suicidal thoughts. Someone who is suicidal does not have to actively plan to end their life, they just have to be thinking about it. Being inactively suicidal is a real, and very serious, thing.

Stop taking "fine" for an answer when you ask people how they are.You both know that they are not fine. Care more about people and hold the ones you love closer. Life is short enough, so reach out and save a life this month.

If you or somebody you know is feeling depressed, suicidal, or has any other mental health issue, please reach out for help, both personally and professionally. Don't think that nobody cares, because somebody does.

For professional help, please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1‑800‑273‑TALK (8255) or go to http://chat.suicidepreventionlifeline.org/GetHelp/... to chat. Both services are 24/7 and strictly confidential.

I thought senioritis in high school was rough until I became a college senior about to go into the real world. I'm supposed to have everything figured out, right? I mean I went through four years of tough classes and serious self-searching (and crying). What I found overall was Senioritis sneaking up on me.

You might not see them everyday anymore, but you're still friends and your text messages prove it.

It takes a little while to get used to not seeing your high school best friends every day. Going away to college causes a lot of changes, but one thing that will never change is my love for my high school BFFs, and the texts that I get from them. College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
