Stop Selling Yourself Short

Stop Selling Yourself Short

Life is full of chances and opportunities, but so many of these chances and opportunities are wasted when we convince ourselves that it is not possible. It’s time to stop letting our fears take control of our minds and free it from that jail.

Be Confident

This means knowing your abilities and your strengths and being able to exemplify them. This could mean applying for that dream job or internship even if there is a shot at failure. It’s so important to not let the fear of failure stop you from trying. If you don’t at least try there will always be that doubt whether or not you would have been able to achieve your goals.

Know Your Weaknesses

It is just as important to know your weaknesses as well as your strengths. It’s not only important for interviews but also for everyday life. Knowing this allows you to work on these and surround yourself with those whose strengths are your weaknesses. One of my weaknesses always used to be time management, but I worked on this by really using my planner and Google Calendar has become my best friend as well. Having weaknesses is normal and part of being human, but it doesn’t mean we should let them hold us back.

Know Yourself and Your Fears and Conquer Them

It is always important to know yourself first. Know what you want to do, set goals, and achieve them. Stop letting that voice in your head that says “you can’t” control your actions. Stop thinking you aren’t good enough and prove to yourself that you can. This means setting your goals and taking steps to achieve them. No matter what the goal or fear is, you can do it.

There are so many amazing things that you can do as long as you let yourself. The only thing holding you back is yourself. It’s time to break the cycle and stop selling yourself short.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
