To The Girl Who Needs To Stop Rushing Everything

You may feel like you have to figure out everything in life. Maybe you feel like if you have it all planned out everything will fall into place as it should. You may feel like just because something starts out good that it'll stay that way. But things change all the time, whether we want them to or not. Sometimes we need to just take things day by day.

Sometimes we need to just relax and let life figure itself out. There's no need to rush anything, whether it be about college, relationships or whatever, take it day by day. Life has a way of figuring itself out and we just need to let it figure itself out sometimes, we can't always try to control everything we do.

We are only humans and can handle so much. We try so hard to figure things out and end up rushing everything and things don't always work out the way that we want or expect them to. I can speak from experience, I rushed everything in college thinking that if I just got what I needed to be done I'd be fine, but it then turned out not to be in my favor.

I have also rushed relationships. Instead of taking the time to actually get to know someone I had started a relationship and now I'm taking the time to get to know them as friends and focusing on school so I can get my life to where I want it to be. I rushed myself into things I wasn't ready for and it set me back to the starting line.

Letting life come to you has its perks. You take college day by day and focus on that. You let love come when it should and let that grow over time. Rushing things never works out as planned, if it has then you're lucky because I know quite a few people that rush things and it never worked out in their favor. Life has its own plan for us and we can never really stop it.

We can't control parts of our lives. Things happen that are just so out of our control, but our control is really just an illusion. Stepping back and letting things happen will let things work themselves out and our needs will be met with time. By letting these things happen, you don't have to stress about anything.

You can sit back and smile for all the things to come. Maybe things don't work out the way you want, but the outcome that you are heading to might be even better than what you are planning. Accept that things will always change and sometimes for the better. Watching things work out will have you learning so much. You learn more about how the world works without controlling every little bit of it. Who knows you might even end up happier because of it.

I know we can't just sit back and watch for everything, there are things that we need to do to put food on the table and everything else we need. Don't let it stop you from doing what you need to do as a priority but some things are better when you let them come to you and not you trying to come to something that may not be where you need to be.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
