Seriously, we're a democracy.

Please Stop Trying To Protest The Outcome Of The Election

Alright, I think that the election hype has died down enough for me to write this article. Donald J. Trump is our president. Let me say that again, Donald J. Trump is the next President of the United States. If that still resonates with you as a negative sentence, please listen to it until it doesn't effect you. See, Donald Trump is not going to be that bad.

Now, this isn't me supporting Donald Trump. I do not like the man whatsoever. I did not vote in this election because I could not support either candidate, so all the Hillary supporters can be just as upset at me right now. Basically, my mindset was that our country was going to be worse off no matter who was elected because Obama is the homie.

Regardless, Donald Trump is the President-Elect. He has been elected President of the United States by the people of America. Not many people are pleased about this, but I am sure that almost the same number of people, if not more are pleased about the results. I mean, a majority of the American people elected him president. Just because they aren't on social media doesn't mean that they don't exist.

To this point of this article: the people who are complaining and protesting about Donald Trump being elected need to stop.

I have already stated that I am not a Trump fan. Not by a long shot. I think Donald Trump is a sexist, a bigot, and egomaniac, and a selfish bastard. I do not want him running our country, but he is. Regardless of my desires, he is running the country, and there is nothing I can do about that.

Your blacked out twitters will not change this fact. Although I respect that fact that you do not want Donald Trump as president and you will inconvenience your own lives to illustrate this point, you are not going to change this. Although I will always support the fact for you to protest Donald Trump, you will not be able to change the outcome the election. Additionally, wearing a safety pin will not change the election. You will get your point across loud and clear which is absolutely respectable, but you will not change the outcome of the election.

Our country is a democracy for a reason. We voted for the president, and we need to deal with the outcome. This doesn't mean we need to like it, and this doesn't mean you can't protest the atrocity of a president Donald Trump will make, but this does mean you cannot protest the outcome of the election. I hate to be that guy, but if you are going to complain about the outcome of the election and ask for it to be changed for the next four years, please leave this country. We elected Donald Trump, whether you like it or not, and you cannot change that fact.

That is all I have to say on the matter. I am not happy that Donald Trump has been elected president, by any means. However, I respect the system and I understand that there is nothing we can do to change this, nor should we. Our country is the greatest in the world for our freedom, and this is an inherent principle of this freedom. Protest Trump's idiocy all you wish, but please shut up about trying to change the election. Thank you.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
