If you have a Twitter account, there's no doubt you've seen the occasional political rant or two. This past election season has brought many online arguments, statements, and trends. Well, I'm here to show you that if you care at all about politics or American government in general, it's best if you get your information from sources other than Twitter, or social media in general. Believe me, your old friend from middle school, that one famous yet outspoken celebrity, and of course, the President himself, should not be the ones to form your political opinion. This isn't just a problem of one group of people either, I'm talking about conservatives, liberals, even independents who are all doing the same thing. Here are few tweets to show you what I'm talking about:
1. When President Trump got mad at Chelsea Manning for calling President Obama a weak leader, when he said the same thing during his campaign multiple, hmm.
Ungrateful TRAITOR Chelsea Manning, who should never have been released from prison, is now calling President Obama a weak leader. Terrible!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump)
2. When someone complained about celebrities complaining about politics that made tweets complaining about politics. Yeah, I'm confused too.
some bad popular artist: *makes bigoted comment*
everyone: "hey that ain't right...."
Artist: "UGH WHY IS EVERYTHING POLITICS."
— ♠Ammy, The Cashier♠ (@SweatyShibe)
3. Actually calling people of the Democratic party "pansies".
#Leftist Pansies Inauguration Protests Won't Scare Trump Supporters https://t.co/jEORVJ0lKH via @KevinJacksonTBS
— Ethan Sabo (@EthanSabo)
4. There are no words, I'm cringing.
Leftists don't really believe in anything. Their platform is to merely oppose what Conservatives believe in.
#laxprotest
— andieiam (@andieiamwhoiam)
5. When it was discovered that if you are conservative, you obviously hate women. That makes complete sense.
Why do conservatives only care about women's rights when Islam is involved?
Because the only threat to women's rights is Islam.
Simple.
— Paul Joseph Watson (@PrisonPlanet)
6. When the same woman who called Donald Trump the night of the election asking him to refuse the Presidency wants us all to give him a chance. Odd.
“Donald Trump is going to be our president. We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead.” —Hillary
— Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton)
7. Then*.
Conservatives: ABORTION IS WRONG. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE PREGNANT THAN USE BIRTH CONTROL!!!
Also Conservatives: Defund planned parenthood!!
— bald & bukakki (@melaninporn)
8. When a week made to celebrate the opportunity for education is now suddenly a racist movement trying to segregate schools again. Huh?
Be aware that #SchoolChoice is a Conservative euphemism for resegregation of schools based on class and race.#TweetTruth
— TruthtoConservatives (@ToConservatives)
These may be only a few tweets to describe what I'm talking about, but hopefully they have proven that Twitter is not exactly the most reliable news source after all, same with any social media platform. It happens with all party's, and all kinds of people. So, if you want real, factual information, then I would suggest reading the news. By this, I mean actual, credible platforms that will give you facts you need in order to keep up with today's politics.
