Mental health illnesses are a huge problem on their own, but the effects of the negative stigma surrounding them can hurt just as much, if not worse, than the diseases themselves. This can prevent other from seeking help they need and cause horrible things to happen.
What people need to realize is that, if you suffer from anxiety or depression, it does not automatically mean you are "psychotic" or "crazy." Yes, they are illnesses, but what we people who suffer from these conditions need is for people to be patient and understanding, and not patronizing and harsh. People have refused to seek treatment as a result of the negative stigma that surrounds mental health. When they let their conditions go untreated, it only leads to greater problems.
