Hobow dah?

In September of 2016, there was a guest on Dr. Phil who changed the whole game of memes.

Danielle Peskowitz Bregoli was brought onto the show with her mother, who was fed up with her attitude. "I want to give up on my car-stealing, knife-wielding, twerking 13-year-old who tried to frame me for a crime," summarizes the Dr. Phil Show website in the entry about the episode the new web-star appeared on.

During the episode, Bregoli and her mother went back and forth about who was at fault for the many arguments between the two. It would have faded into the archives of the show along with the rest of the episodes or ungrateful children and anxious parents, however, one line saved the episode from disappearing.

After calling the audience a bunch of "hoes," Bregoli did not appreciate the laughter from the audience and questioning from Dr. Phil. This lead to the infamous line in her "from the streets" accent, "Cash me outside, howbow dah?" This was then translated by her mother to mean she will "go outside and do what she needs to do." Watch out.

The internet began to blow up from this line, turning it into memes and using the phrase for any situation where one gets offended or angry. This social stigma has made Bregoli famous and rich.

Famous. And rich.

She has begun to sell merchandise advertising her catchphrase, and is chased with cameras and microphones when she is on the streets. She's a celebrity. There is a blanket on her site that is just a picture of her face. It's selling for $250.00. As of February 19th, It's sold out. You guys.

Let's just think about this for a minute.

A 13-year-old girl, who steals her mother's car and resorts to screaming and threatening behavior when she doesn't get her way, is a famous and rich celebrity because of one line -- which she meant as a threat -- that people thought was funny.

When Bregoli's mother took her to Dr. Phil, her hope, like most parents of the children on that show, was for her daughter's behavior to improve. It has now resulted in fame and fortune that has motivated Bregoli's violent and irrational outbursts. She is never going to think about maturing now. Why would she? She is getting so much attention for being unpleasant, and it is downright astonishing.

In a bad way.

A horrible way.

Only a few weeks ago, Bregoli made a second appearance on Dr. Phil to talk about her progress after rehab. When she walks onto the stage she immediately asks where the audience is, "There's no hoes," she claims. She was expecting an audience to strut in front of, she was looking forward to show off her I'm-better-than-you attitude, but was disappointed to find out she had to be serious with her mother and Dr. Phil.

As if this wasn't enough to capsulate the immaturity and cocky persona of the 13-year-old who knows everything, when asked about the attention she has been receiving, she claimed that it's a good thing she is so famous now because "you [Dr. Phil] were nothin' before I came on this show."

No one watched the show before her, apparently. No one knew who Dr. Phil was, apparently.

My question is, why on earth is this girl getting so much attention? She doesn't deserve any of it! She is being rewarded with fame and attention and money for her awful behavior. She was the star of a horrible music video for Kodak Black's song "Everything 1K." I will save you some time, it's just a video of Bregoli in and on a car with her phone in her hand, sporting her classy clothing with her catchphrase on it all, while making a horrible attempt at lip-syncing the song.

This girl is giving off the message that you don't need to be a decent human being in order to make it big in life, and that is extremely disappointing. Forget those who fight for our country or pitch in to improve the lives of those in poor countries -- pay more attention to this loud-mouth-anger-issued teenage girl instead. Seriously? Where are our values? Is this what entertainment and inspiration has turned into? I sure hope not.

This is just another example of how strong of an impact social media has on what is viewed as 'important' to society.

As a young girl struggling her way through college while getting ready for her future career and life in general, I am speechless that Bregoli is now rich and has it all at such a young age with no effort put forth at all. It really hurts me that there are people working their asses off to provide a good life for themselves and or others while someone who has a delinquant attitude, with no clue what life is about, can say some trashy comment and is now commonly recognized and famous.

There are such more important topics to be discussed right now:

-The future of our country

-The drinking water in Michigan

-The Giant Panda is no longer an endangered species

-The Ocean Cleanup Project plans to cleanup 40% of ocean-plastics starting this year

-China has announced plans to end the Ivory trade in their country

-U.S. Veteran homelessness has declined by 50% in the last ten years

-The ALS 'ice bucket challenge' provided research enough money to identify a gene associated with the disease

-Measles has been eradicated from North, Central, and South America

-And so much more (https://www.facebook.com/curiositydotcom/videos/15...)

How some fake-nailed, hoop-ear-ringed, ungrateful teenager is doing with her grammatically incorrect catchphrase is so beyond irrelevant and unnecessary.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
