Stop Making A Competition Out Of College Majors

Every major has its fair share of challenges.

Business, nursing, English, communications, biology and the other 30 or 40 or so majors offer different experiences to different students. However, the biggest question that I ask myself about these majors is why some students feel the need to prove why their major is more difficult than someone else's? What difference does it make toward your educational experience?

What makes it OK to undermine someone else's life path simply because you think that you take harder classes?

I have had so many people make negative remarks to me about being a business major. People in other majors have said, "Oh yeah, my friends don't understand that I couldn't do whatever activity because they are business majors and have it easy." Everyone has their niche in life. Some are better at writing, some are better at math and so on. I know that I could never willingly take a science class because I know that I would struggle in it. However, I also know that many people that could never take an accounting course because they would not be able to keep up with it. It all is what you are good at.

Every major has its fair share of challenges and the back and forth of who has it harder is irrelevant.

We are all college students. We are all in the same boat. We all have plenty of exams, papers and presentations to complete before graduation. So stop ragging on other majors for "having it easy" because maybe one week you have one more exam than they do.

It shouldn't be a competition.

We are all striving for the same goal and instead of pushing each other down, we should be acknowledging that we all have our own struggles when it comes to college and offer support when one of us is struggling.

College is hard for everyone and life is harder. So stop making a competition about something so unnecessary and stop comparing your major to everyone else's.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
