When is the day going to come when we can stop explaining ourselves and the decisions that we make to others? There are so many times when I am more concerned about how I am going to explain myself to the world about a decision I am making than times when I am concerned about the decision itself. Why must we ensure that we have the approval of others in order to make a decision that only influences our personal life? We don’t.
Us not needing approval from others is something that many of us forget, including myself. We all have minds of our own and we are perfectly capable of making our own choices. We need to stop worrying about what society is going to think about our choices. Every day we are put in situations where we need to make a decision. Regardless of whether that decision is as little as deciding whether you are going to eat a salad for lunch or a pizza, or a decision as big as getting a permanent tattoo on your body, you do not have any obligation to justify yourself to anybody on why you made that decision.
If you are choosing to go ahead and do something, then that is because you feel it is the right thing to do for yourself. At the end of the day, that is truly all that matters. More so, if your decision isn’t harming others, then nobody else needs to have a say in it. Yes, everybody is entitled to their own opinions, but you don’t need to listen to others opinions on matters that don’t involve them, especially if the people with these opinions are not important people in your life.
Live your life for you and stop worrying about what others are going to think about it. When all is said and done, what other people think about your life choices really doesn't matter.
