If you're like me, it may seem like you're always trying to please everyone, and always trying to spread yourself too thin.
Anything you do is never 'enough.'
With everyone's successes and seemingly-perfect lives being constantly synced into our core, it's practically impossible to give ourselves the credit we deserve. We are all trying to win the race within our false realities.
But the thing is, there is always going to be a race, and we can't always 'win.' You won't always have the 'best job,' get that awesome scholarship, get that dream car, or go on an extravagant vacation.
Your journey is yours, and as long as you are trying your best, you are doing just fine.
It's easy to forget that we're all on different timelines. Our time will come when it's supposed to come, and we must wait patiently for that time. But in the meantime, still enjoy life.
We make life a lot harder than it has to be. We set unrealistic standards and totally warp the true meaning behind this life—no matter what your beliefs are.
We aren't here to impress or boast; we are here to—as cliche as it sounds—make the most out of every day.
We are taught to love ourselves and our quirks, yet have this societal expectation to spend hours behind a screen, comparing ourselves to one another. For being such a selfish breed, we rarely do actually fairly evaluate ourselves. Our lack of confidence is only tightened because of our lack of social interaction.
We aren't real anymore. We are edited and posed.
We are constantly behind a screen and watching someone's perfectly filtered and edited life. We don't really know anyone anymore. We know them as their perfectly edited and themed Instagram feed, or their wild Friday night Snapchat stories.
It's so easy to think that what you're seeing is authentic, but its more likely not.
So before you go ahead with the comparisons and self-judgment, remember that all you have to worry about is if you're happy.
You owe it to yourself. And if you are, keep going. Keep living deliberately. And if not, spread your wings, step out of your comfort zone, and follow your dreams. Keep trying hard and taking risks.
You will never get 'today' back.
