If Kaitlin Bennett Brings Her Circus To Your Campus, Ignore Her

Kaitlin Bennett, the "Kent State Gun Girl," paid a visit to Ohio University's campus on Monday, February 17. The students at Ohio University were not happy with her appearance on campus and decided to protest.

The demonstration got a little out of hand, and many clips show Bennett being followed by crowds of students and getting water, toilet paper, and iced coffee thrown at her.

Bennett and her controversial opinions have gotten a lot of attention online lately and that's mostly because of her awful interviews that are obviously meant to make people mad. The main purpose of her "interviews" is to rile people up, and we are just feeding into her game by protesting and throwing toilet paper at her. After her visit, she went on to Twitter to threaten Ohio University students with "an army of gun owners" and went on Fox News to give her opinion on the visit.

I don't think that people understand that she wants all the memes that are going around on Twitter and TikTok to spread. It gives her more attention and also gives her a pedestal to spread her ignorant opinions. Even though it's easier said than done, it would be more effective if we ignored her instead of throwing stuff and chanting.

America has become so politically polarized in recent years and that's mostly because we ridicule and mock those that we disagree with. In the media, we're just constantly fighting fire with fire.

If Kaitlin Bennett and her microphone were to come to your campus, just ignore and don't play into her interviews. Also, if you see a tweet or a video making fun of her, don't like or share it, because it's the only keeping her relevant.
