This is something that really rubs me the wrong way and I get so fired up about. I always hear "such a tool pic" or "stop posting fitness pictures". For starters, you post about your double sugar caramel latte every morning. You are slowly clogging your arteries while tracking it with pictures. I am changing to a healthy lifestyle, bettering myself, and trying to spread motivation and positivity. Do I critique your Instagram posts? No girl, you do you. To the people who post pictures partying every weekend, you are killing your liver one beer bong at a time. I post a picture of my progress of hours spent at the gym, and the outcome is raged posts because I am so conceded...let it sink in.
Can't understand? Neither can I. We live in a place where 1/3 of Americans are obese and everyone tells them to workout and be healthy. When people do become passionate about fitness, social media turns on you. They see you doing better, and all the sudden they don't support you. You are literally working hard to become a healthier, stronger person and decreasing the risks of so many diseases and people still find a way to make that negative. They suggest not posting because "it's annoying", but if you are proud of yourself why shouldn't you share that? To the people that support this negative activity, you are shaming people for finding confidence and being happy with their body. You have no place to be the judge for that. Other people are doing something extremely beneficial for themselves so let them be.
This issue really does bother me because those who shame are making people feel bad about themselves for something that should feel excited about. It is hard work and motivation that gets you progress. You don't just get it from protein and supplements, it is the drive you put in. Dedication, motivation and will power. You have to want it, so don't take their self-confidence away. Fitness is something that makes me and a small but thankfully, growing part of the population, happiness. Happiness like this should not be taken away with us.
To those people who feel shamed to post about their milestones in the fitness world, let them hate. Hate is developed from envy so let them drown in it. If you are so repulsed by someone's hard work, you can easily hit that unfollow. If you worked hard for it, don't let other peoples opinions stop you from flaunting what you were insecure about. Whatever your lifestyle is, post freely about it. If you don't like it, unfollow.
