I've been writing for Odyssey for almost a year now, and while it's not always easy, it has been a really rewarding experience. Without Odyssey, I probably wouldn't find the time to write as much as I want to. Some weeks I'm practically drowning with schoolwork and other obligations, but having a deadline forces me to sit down and write something. I'll admit, there are some weeks where I don't write to the best of my ability or would even expect anyone to read the article, but I'm still thankful to have a platform where I am able to voice my thoughts and opinions, regardless of who reads it.
It saddens me as a writer and Odyssey community member when people continuously bash this platform. It's not always about reputation; it's about exposure and growing as a writer that makes Odyssey so great.
I encourage all college students to contribute at least one piece to Odyssey. It doesn't have to be an in-depth CNN-like article, but it's merely the beginning of getting our voices heard. Some articles will be hits, and some, not so much, but take the chance and stop bashing those who have the courage to do so.
