NYX Liquid Suede Swatches And Reviews

NYX has been my favorite cosmetic line for lipsticks and liquid lipsticks for a while now, so I figured I should do a swatch/review on my new favorite liquid lipstick line. I’ve been obsessed with NYX for about three years and, recently, I purchased six pieces from their Liquid Suede lipstick line. NYX describes this line as a soft and velvet-like lipstick, that is waterproof, matte finishing and long-lasting.

There are 12 shades in this collection, but I’ve picked the six that I thought would look great on my skin tone (I’m pretty fair). I’ve had these lippies for more than three months and I am absolutely in love with them. I’ve tried other liquid lipsticks before, but these are my favorite. Like most liquid lipsticks that finish matte, these are a little drying so applying a base (I use Vaseline or EOS) or a primer (I also use the primer from Bite Beauty) is ideal -- however, these aren’t as drying as most liquid lipsticks.

The formula has avocado oil and fruit oil so it does have a touch of moisture. As for application, they do glide on fairly easily and most do not need a second coat. The applicator is a little big so it does take some getting used to. They retail for $7 and they can be bought directly from the NYX website or from Ulta (I prefer Ulta because of the points I gain and they usually have promos and coupons). Now, let’s get to the swatches!

This photo came from a makeup artist named Bailey Van Der Veen, it features all 12 colors found in the collection. She did an amazing video on this product, so if you want more information check out her YouTube channel.

The six pieces I picked up are: Pink Lust, Tea and Cookies, Life’s a Beach, Vintage, Cherry Skies, and Kitten Heels. Excuse some of the smudges and lightning. I tried my best to show off every color and for the sake of time and just to show the true color of the shade, I did not prime or outline my lips in any of the photos.

(From left to right: Cherry Skies, Vintage, Tea and Cookies, Pink Lust, Life's a Beach, Kitten Heels)

The first one I’m swatching is Pink Lust. Pink Lust can be described as a poppy and electric pink. It’s very bright and bold. This color definitely stands out and I would usually wear this color if I was wearing all black or dark colors to add a pop of color.

The next color is Life’s a Beach, and I absolutely love the name. This color is described as a bright pink coral. This color isn’t as bold as Pink Lust, but it is very pigmented. I would have to be in a certain mood to wear this color because it is more pink then I’m used to.

Up next is Tea and Cookies, and this color is so nice! The color is very neutral and relaxed. It is a rosy pink color and I think it would look lovely on all skin types. I took, like, 15 photos trying to get a decent photo of this shade, but my flash keeps making it look paler than what it really is. This color, like the rest of the colors in this collection, is very buildable. This would be a color I would wear on a daily basis because it is neutral and light.

The next shade is Kitten Heels (actual kitten heels make me cringe, but I love this shade!) This shade is a beautiful ruby red color. Everyone needs a red in their makeup collection ad this color is stunning. It is very pigmented and it glides on very smoothly. I would definitely wear this color on a date night with my boyfriend or just when I’m feeling more bold than usual. Like with any red or darker pigmented color you have to be careful with smudging and the shade is applied because it can get messy really fast.

Next, we have Cherry Skies. This is my absolute favorite color so far. This color is a deep wine color that is amazing. I really always find myself falling for the deep red/maroon colors. Once again this is a shade I would wear on a daily basis because personally I feel at home in darker shades since I’m so fair I think they just bounce off my skin more than pinks do.

Last, but not least, we have Vintage. Vintage is a dark plum color and it a beautiful color. I love this color so much because I never had a color like this. This color is very buildable and in lower lighting it looks almost like a pale brown almost grey color and I love that. This color isn’t a day to day color for me, but it is a go out with the girls color. I get a lot of compliments on this color and it glides on nicely without needing a second coat or double dip from the tube.

I hope you guys enjoyed these swatches and my review. If you've never shopped for NYX products you should start with these colors because they are very pigmented or if you’re looking to try a matte liquid lipstick that’s affordable then this would be a great brand for you too. Just keep in mind that the formula is different and like most mattes it can be drying and it takes some getting used to.

Happy shopping, guys!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
