We were there for the “mistreated, the misrepresented and the misunderstood”.

Still "We" Rise: A Remark To Women Everywhere

Quien Eres?! (Who are you?!) I am a Latina. A Woman. An Activist. A Christian. A Voice. This is my identity. Unashamed to express my feelings and thoughts about issues that affect me and my people, yet it’s not just restricted to them. For my mouth was made to raise the masses and spread love and unity.Dime Quien Tu Eres?! (Tell me, Who are you?!) I am a Daughter. An Aunt. A Sister. I am so much more than what you define me as. For I have worth and value; and my beauty is not yours to define, for it is mine.

Te Dije Que Me Digas, Quien Tu Eres?! (I told you to tell me, Who you are?!) My body, voluptuous and thick, was carved and formed in my mother’s womb. My brain is not filled with silly thoughts, yet it has the capability to reach higher ends. My Hands were not just built to hold plows yet, they were built to lift those that have fallen. For I have capability!

I am more than just a pretty face. A nice girl. A gifted girl. I AM a Woman who was formed by God. Therefore, when I speak against the injustices and inequalities around me, I am NOT silly, a radical, an over-thinker or a complainer. For I was made to NOT remain silent, I was MADE to speak up and SEEK justice.

Ahora, Dime Quien Tu Eres?! (Now, you tell me who you are?) You -- You are Beautiful! You are a Beacon of Hope for the generations to come. You are a Lioness. You are Capable. You are Colorful. You are Joy. You are Love. You are...You. For being “You” is true beauty and don’t let anyone else distort that.

So, why am I asking myself, as well as in "You", who WE are? Well, after attending the Women’s March and Rally in Hartford, CT; I experienced something. I saw an overflow of people from all backgrounds. I saw husbands with their wives, I saw fathers with their sons and daughters with their mothers. I saw children all united, from different walks of life. It was overwhelming because the message was all the same. We were there for the “mistreated, the misrepresented and the misunderstood”. We were there to say that, “Women have Value”. We were there to stand and say that “America is ALL of US”. We were there to “Stand Up, Speak Up and Rise Up”. Sure, some women have come out and said that did not feel represented, yet let us have respect for one another -- whether you agree or not with the Marches.

I marched because when I see my little nieces, I want them to understand that what the world says about their bodies and whom they are as strong young girls should not stop them from believing and knowing they are beautiful. I marched because, if I have a daughter I want her to know that she is capable of running for office or owning her own business. I marched because I shouldn't have to get paid less, just because I am not a man. I marched because I know that I am not just something you can throw and use for your own pleasure, yet I am a strong woman. I am not an object or a "treasure" wife to show off.

I have value. I have worth. I have a purpose. I have a voice. I have a future.

So, I ask you again, WHO ARE YOU?

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
