STILL
What an unusual word. What does it mean to be still? You can still have something. You can be still. There is one definition of this word that seems to express the impossible.
Still as an adjective means "free from sound or noise, as a place or person; silent" or "remaining in a place or at rest." This definition may be an action that is difficult for some people. To take the time to stop and be in complete silence or stay in one place, does not seem reasonable. In a world that is as fast paced as we have made it, it's hard to truly experience still. There always seems to be something major going on. The world cannot even halt for a single moment to see what is going on around them. In a place like this, it is so important to make sure that you get time alone where nothing is surrounding you. The pressures of society get to everyone eventually; which means everyone could use some well deserved still.
In the Bible it states, “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” Psalm 46; 10-11. In the way the Bible discusses still, we know that we should listen to what He has to say. With society in the way, people quickly lose hope. When we all take a moment to listen to God and the plans He has for our world, you can begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel. He shows us that no matter how messed up our world can get or crazy our lives are, He is there and loves us through it all.
So here it is, be still. Take a minute or two each morning or night and sit in silence, Listen to what God has to say to you. Sit still and feel the weight on your shoulders be gone. Be still, find your control- maybe even your sanity. Stand out and be still. Be the person that stays calm in situations that seem too crazy to maintain. Go through your life with a small bit of still.
