Steven Universe is one the best cartoon series out there. This is for a number of reasons, but one factor is of course the music. Without needing a song for every episode the ones that do appear have a lot of care and attention invested in them. Each one might drive the plot forward, bring important character development, add something lighthearted to an episode, and/or leave you wide-eyed thinking “This right here! This is why this show is so amazing!” Here are the best Steven Universe songs as of January 2017.
1. "Let Me Drive My Van (Into Your Heart)"
What a perfect song to establish Greg's rock star past.
2. "Strong in the Real Way"
What a way to rhyme "zealous" with a thought in your head.
3. "Steven and the Crystal Gems"
After watching "Steven and the Stevens" these lyrics have the best dark humor I've probably ever heard. Another great song is the version featuring four Stevens earlier in the episode.
4. "On The Run"
With the guitar, Amethyst's voice (Michaela Dietz), and whistling it's impossible to be sad during this song.
5. "Stronger Than You"
"But I think you're just mad 'cause you're single."
6. "Do it For Her"
"Just think of the life you'll have together after the war."
7. "What Can I Do"
Finally an example of Rose's amazing singing done by Susan Egan.
8. "Haven't You Noticed (I'm a Star)"
Only this show could create such a fantastic pop song. It's the talented Olivia Olsen singing, but whatever you do don't picture Marceline the Vampire Queen as a pop star stepping out of a hot pink limousine.
9. "Something Entirely New"
The best duet to show the beginning of the greatest "duet" in the series.
10. "It's Over, Isn't it?"
Many moments lead to this emotional finale of sorts, brought to us by the talented Deedee Magno-Hall.
11. "Both Of You"
Sung after "It's Over, Isn't it?" bringing closure in the most beautiful way possible. Also the best example of Zach Callison's voice in my opinion.
12. "Here Comes a Thought"
The voices of Estelle and AJ Michalka, everyone.
13. "Fifteen Minutes" by Mike Krol
From "Last One Out of Beach City," and setting the perfect tone to one of the best episodes in the series.
