How Steroids Ruined Baseball

Baseball or as most americans know it as Americas past time. Baseball has been found since the late 1800s and has been a popular sports by all age groups. But in the past 10 years the sport has taken a lot of heat from fans, reports, and higher ups in Major League Baseball. This has been due to the steroid era, which is the time i the sport from the early 90's to the mid 00's that had many athletes using Steroids or HGH to improve performance, this was possible because MLB did not require steroid testing until 2008. Now in 2016 baseball is still trying to recover from this era that ruined the sport for many young kids.

Young kids back when steroids were in full swing in baseball are now grown up and taking there kids to games. But most aren't seeing the same baseball due to the MLB suspending player on who test positive for performance enhancing drugs. This can be 50 games to being suspended forever. This has taken all the ungodly number you were seeing from home run sluggers back in the steroid era down to regular numbers that most people see as weak numbers. this has ruined baseball for the group of parents now that have grown up to see power hitters and records being broken.

The steroid era has taken away from the best part of baseball. The best part of baseball is the fun, the taking the family to the ball park and enjoying the game. The sport has become something that draws people in because they want to see spectacular performances every night. The fans want to see either a pitcher dominate the game or to see home runs blasted out of the stadium. but that isn't the way the game is anymore and the steroid era kids needs to realize that before they ruin the game for the younger group.

I grew up watching the end of the steroid era and the beginning of how baseball is played now. Growing up watching pitchers change from replaceable every year to being a luxury in baseball. yes, baseball had its dominate pitchers during the steroid era knowing some of those used steroids also. but today in baseball a great Pitcher is the difference from winning one game in the playoffs to getting to game seven and winning the world series. Steroids made the game fun for the time that they were used and as they are being phased out people need to learn the game has changed.

Baseball has taken a big hit after the Steroid era and it will only get better if people look at it the way it's being played and not how it was played. You aren't going to see the ungodly numbers, the home run battles, you most likely won't see the season home run record broken (unless some talented player comes along), and you won't see Pitchers being thrown around like anyone can do their jobs. Baseball now is about consistency and players being recognized for more than just there numbers. Baseball is still as fun as it ever was and it still the same game you can take the family to and enjoy a baseball game. People just need to realize that it won't be the same game they grew up watching and to not let there children or young kids down by ruining the game by wanting it to be the way it was then the way it is.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
