So I have a twin sister who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of 1. Since then my family and I have been through a lot to help my sister Lia through the good times and the bad.
We have been on an Australian television show called The Project and told our story to the Australian audience, and promoted Steptember through our segment on the show, a few years back. This allowed us to tell my sister's story and get the word out there.
Steptember is a global charity event for people with Cerebral Palsy. You are helping United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) one of the largest health nonprofits in the country—provide services to thousands of children and adults living with disabilities.
When you sign up, the way to reach your goal is uniquely up to you, you can either play a large variety of sport and log your activities which can be transformed to steps when you convert them online. Whether you play sports for example; Soccer, NFL, Rugby, Tennis etc, the list goes on but you get my drift.
To sign up all you need to do is take a few simple steps here. For those of you who are not participating but just happy to donate a little something.
Many individuals around the world will be taking 10,000 steps every day of September to support the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation and the ground-breaking research they are carrying out to treat, prevent and ultimately find a cure for cerebral palsy; the most common physical disability in childhood.
Your support will mean so much to people with Cerebral Palsy – and really make a difference for so many individuals.
