Ah, finals season. A time where college students everywhere begin to study, gorge themselves on food, and binge-watch full seasons of their favorite sitcoms and series in preparation for the stressful evaluations of their acquired knowledge from the past four months. I, too, am a college student, and I want to give everyone my method of getting through studying for finals. I present a 12-step method for you, the strung-out college student, to lighten the load when it seems to get too heavy.
1. Breathe.
No, seriously. Breathe. You need it to live and go regain sanity before you choke your roommate.
2. Take a break from studying.
It seems obvious but take a break. And let's be real, the break is gonna be longer than five minutes. It's whatever, just don't tempt the Netflix habit okay?
3. Treat yo self... eat a snack.
Hours of studying and stressing means you're gonna forget to eat. That's not good. Go get that bag of chips from the top of your fridge. You can go to the gym after Thanksgiving.
4. Take a walk.
Just take a jacket. The weather is getting cold out there, you guys, but make sure you leave that dark confine you call your room and get some fresh air. Remember breathing?
5. Take a nap.
OK, you studied, ate, and took a walk (and that's if you like to do things step by step). Take a nap, I know that's what you were going to do anyway.
6. Browse the Internet.
Explore the exciting world of Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter right at your finger tips as you are too lazy to get out of bed to get your laptop with all of your final papers saved to it. The Internet is a fun place!
7. Listen to the new Adele album.
What? Adele released a new album? You know your mind isn't gonna be ready to study until you hear this masterpiece!
8. Cry a little bit.
You're listening to Adele. What did you expect?
9. Contemplate what is life.
Darn the emotions that only Adele can make you feel!
10. Drink some water.
You need to be hydrated after all those tears you shed. You practically look like you wet the bed. Speaking of which...
11. Get out of bed and do your work now.
Is that procrastination out your system yet? Not really? Well, too bad. We're almost at the final step!
12. Study.
Yep. The exciting conclusion is here! Now that you've done everything you could've possibly done, you have to do the one thing you avoided. Your work!
This plan has varying results with most people stopping after step 5, 6, or 9, but if you made it this far, congrats! Now you're ready to take on the end of the semester.
