You're given two options. The first one is something that will give you comfort and satisfaction, something that you are used to. The other one is something completely unknown. There is no guarantee in what you will get out of it.
Which do you choose?
Almost anyone will choose the option that provides them comfort. The option they know the outcome of. There is a sense of negativity when it comes to the unknown.
Humans don't like change. We never have and probably never will. When it comes to the unknown, there is the risk of losing everything, the chance that the worst could happen. However, there is also fulfillment that will come from exploring the unknown.
We should set out to reach out of our comfort zones. To dive into the unknown.
The first experience I had with the "unknown" was at my dance auditions when I was in fourth grade. My mom went on a limb and brought me to a place I have never been to before and asked me to audition for the competition team. I was young, so I said yes.
Right away I was filled with regret. I was in the unknown. I went into the audition without dancing a day in my life. How stupid was I? All I saw were numerous girls hugging and screaming. They seemed like they knew each other for ages, but they were complete strangers to me. That is when my mom asked me if I wanted to leave and go back into the option that I was comfortable in. To my suprise, I told her no. I dove into the unknown of what the audition would hold for me.
Honestly, it was the best decision I have ever made. Dance is now something I have a great passion for. It has shaped me as a person and has taught me things that I can apply to my life ever after I finish dancing. It may sound cliche, but I don't know where I would be if I agreed to my mom's offer of going back to what I was comfortable with. Diving into the unknown, especially in this situation, was the best decision I have ever made.
That isn't the only time diving into the unknown has great benefits. In fact, I have been told many times that "its about the journey, not the destination". So, you could easily go into what you are comfortable in, or you can take a risk and go into the unknown.
If you utilize your bravery and go into the unknown, I guarantee that you won't regret it. Even if you don't get direct, positive results, you will learn a great amount.
Self-discovery is going to be more beneficial than being comfortable.
I dare you. I dare you to reach out of your comfort zone. I dare you to dip into the unknown. I bet you that you will learn. I bet you that you will grow.
