For those of you that do/do not already know, I am interning in Boston this summer and before I left for the Spirit of Massachusetts, I wanted to visit family. As I have mentioned before, I am from California and decided to spend the day with my house-mate Karen who lives near me!
At first, we were driving around with the sole mission of finding food, but after feeding ourselves, we did not know what to do. We literally thought of anything and everything from a nap to battling LA traffic to going to the beach. Finally, Karen suggested going on a hike to which I made my typical "you're joking, please say you are joking" face. It is something like this:
*Insert Karen instead of Xiomara for full effect*
She convinced me by saying we would only go to take aesthetically pleasing pictures, which if you follow me on Instagram (shameless plug), you would know I love having an aesthetic. Not only that, but recently Karen and I had started working out together so after much hesitation and negotiating a compromise on how much we would do, we started off on our adventure.
We visited Chantry Flat, which for those that have not been, is at the very top of a mountain. Yup, Karen took me to the top of a mountain. Although I have the coordination skills of a panda, (no hate Bei Bei, you keep on being adorable) I am proud to say I did not fall or trip. Woo!
Another crazy thing is that we had no cellular service! I could not tweet, snap, insta anything which to my millennial self, was more of a reason to stay in the car.
However, this place was gorgeous. The ambiance was indescribable. The smell of nature was so pleasant and refreshing from the LA smog. The grass and trees looked straight out of a "Twilight" movie. At that moment, no one could reach me and all troubles were out of mind because nature is such a beautiful and powerful thing. Nature can make you feel as if you are born all over again. The peace, the quiet, the squirrels jumping from branch to branch.
Which is what brings me to this article. As the ~environmentalist~ that I try to be, I challenge you to spend some time outdoors. Take your dog, your phone for those great lighting photos, your family, your S.O., etc. Just go outside and enjoy nature because that is what the parks are there for! I can tell you that I am planningon spending as much time possible exploring the outdoors this summer.
I mean do you not want this great lighting? Yeah, there isn't a filter on this great selfie.
