Dear Robb,
Ever since I can remember you've been in my life. One of my favorite memories is watching Pinocchio every day with you before you took me to daycare. You took me in as your own daughter and loved me unconditionally. Now that I'm going to college, I wanted to say thank you for everything you've taught me.
Hard work was something you've instilled in me from a very young age. You knew I was smart and could get A's so you'd sit down with me in the living room and made sure I did my homework; you helped me with questions... even when you didn't quite get the material.
When I started playing my flute I would come home frustrated and you'd always calm me down and tell me greatness comes with time. You taught me hard work without realizing it; the fact that you come home every day exhausted from work so you can support your family proves that.
You've taught me how to be caring to everyone I love. You've spent so much money on my brother and me to make sure we have what we need. I've seen you go without a new pair of shoes so Noah and I can get them instead. You make sure the rest of the family is taken care of first... because that's the kind of person you are. Selfless.
One of the biggest lessons you've taught me is to be strong in what I believe in, even when others disagree. You've supported me when I rant about how feminism is important. You gave me a high five when I told you I registered to vote because "my voice matters." Even if we don't see eye to eye on some of the controversial topics, you always listen on what I have to say and never tell me I'm wrong.
Even though you may be serious, that doesn’t mean you’re horrible, like the "step-parent" stereotype implies. You’re probably one of the kindest men I know. You didn’t have to put in the effort, time, and love to build a wonderful life for our family, but you did. It takes a kind man to do all of that. I love you.
