Steal The Dorm Room That Broke The Internet

I thought I was excited to decorate my freshman dorm but boy was I wrong. Two Ole Miss freshmen, Lindy Goodson and Abby Bozeman, made their room the dorm equivalent of the Disneyland castle suite. When the girls posted their picture, many Twitter users began to hate on the picture calling the girls “extra” and saying that they would regret their decision. I, and many others, disagree with them. I am obsessed with this dorm room.

Now that I have officially decided that I want these girls to decorate my room, I need to realize that I’ll probably never meet them, but I sure can draw inspiration from the photos of their room. They told Buzzfeed that they bought the décor at places like T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Pottery Barn and other local furniture boutiques. I’m sure I can’t be the only one lusting after this dorm room, so I am trying to find items similar to their’s to help both me and you recreate this fantasy living situation.

Tufted Headboard

This ivory tufted headboard from Wal-Mart isn't exactly the same as the Ole Miss freshmen, but it definitely gives off a similar vibe. For a little over $100, this will transform your twin XL bed into a bed fit for a princess.

White Quilt/Duvet Cover

You may think a stark white duvet can be found anywhere, but the best of the best can be found at Pottery Barn Teen. It looks classy and feels comfy. What more could you ask for?

Striped Blanket

I never thought Williams Sonoma had anything but kitchen products, so I was pleasantly surprised to find this throw blanket on their website. I'm not sure if this blanket will keep you warm, but the tassels are adorable and this will add a pop of color to your white room.

Bed Skirt

The girls' bedskirt appeared to be checkered, however, this bed skirt is a similar color. Under the bed is a great hiding place for storage, and a bed skirt covers up any evidence of a messy shoe organizer or a basket of worn-out craft supplies.

Ottoman

This ottoman makes another great place for storage. In my dorm room, I kept snacks in mine! Plus, if you're bed is high up, it will make a great stepping stool.

Monogrammed Pillow

These girls' pillows are surely custom made because after scouring the Internet, I couldn't find anything exactly like theirs. However, this pillow from Zazzle gets the job done. A monogram is sure to add a girly touch to your room!

Bulletin Board/Photo Display

Make your dorm your home by showcasing your favorite pictures on this type of board! Both of the girls each have one next to their beds as a constant reminder of their loved ones back home.

Lamp

It's practically impossible to study in a dark room, so the girls had the right idea to shine some light in their room. Their lamps are probably from T.J. Maxx or Marshall's, but it's easy to find any dupe as long as it has a gold base.

Artwork

The original photo of the room is slightly blurry, but what I can make out is what appears to be llama artwork and dock artwork behind the girls' beds. To make this your own, get a photo of your favorite animal!

Of course, the girls had many more things in their room, but these are just the staples. Now we are one step closer to becoming internet sensations with our stunning dorm rooms! Best of luck to the girls with their freshmen year!

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
