If you’re anything like me, then you absolutely love Winter. There’s Christmas, presents, lighting the fire place on a cold night and drinking hot chocolate and the start of a new year. With all of the holiday festivities going on, you might be wondering what to wear this year to make everyone take a second look. If you really want to up your fashion game this season, check out these ten trends that seem to be on the top of every girl’s Christmas list.

1. Thigh High Boots

These sassy boots seem to be making a big debut among the fashion world. Women are wearing them with jeans, skirts, dresses and even a nice pair of shorts. These boots range from suede to leather and go from flat to stiletto, while also coming in different colors such as tan, black, and brown. If you think you could strut around town this winter in some thigh high boots, check out your local shoe and department stores for a pair. You can even check online at sites like Steve Madden, 6pm.com, Zooshoo, and many more.

2. Bodysuits

This retro 80s fashion trend is beginning to make a come back like no other. Seen all around the fashion world, more and more women are starting to sport a tight-fitted bodysuit tucked into a skin tight pair of jeans paired with some wedged heels or maybe even some thigh high boots. You can find these bodysuits in a variety of different styles and colors, from low cut, backless to long-sleeved, lace up. My favorite place to find bodysuits is at Forever21, or online at tobi.com or nastygal.com

3. Suede

Although Elvis Presley’s blue suede shoes were pretty stylish back in the day, a new type of suede has taken over the runway this season. From skirts, to shirts, to shoes, and jackets, suede is becoming the number one go-to fashion statement for every woman. We’ve seen the most popular suede trend being worn as a skirt. Thats right, a short mini skirt during the winter with some stockings worn underneath, and again, a pair of thigh high boots.

4. Anything Body Con

Body Con styles have been popular since 2011 i’m pretty sure. When we saw the first semi-formal dresses come out with strapless, tight-fitting material covered in sparkles or some sort of beading. But body con has come a long way since then. This season, more and more girls are styling in perfectly snug dresses, skirts, shirts, and as mentioned before, bodysuits. Find the perfect body con dress, pair it with some stockings and a scarf, and put the finishing touch on with your favorite pair of shoes.

5. Jean Jackets

Here’s another 80s/90s trend that’s also making a come back. When I think of jean jackets I think of hipster style, which is not really my style. But after seeing a few fashion ads and posts on Pinterest, I came to find that there are many different ways you can wear a jean jacket without looking like a hipster this Winter. For more ideas on how to sport one of these jackets you can look on Pinterest, and then head to your favorite store and snatch up one of your own!

6. Plaid Scarves

Just as flannel plaid shirts were popular during the summer throughout the fall, the same pattern is appearing now around everyone’s necks as a scarf. As the months get colder and colder people need a little something extra to keep them warm, that is why the fashion gods invented scarves. This season add a little something extra to your favorite sweater with a thick plaid scarf. Whether you snatch an infinity scarf, or let it hang draped around your neck you will look fabulous with this stylish pattern

7. Fur Vests

Just as they were popular last season, they have become even more popular this season. Fur has always been a luxurious fashion statement. Anyone wearing something made of any kind of fur is automatically assumed to be filthy rich and must have paid a tremendous amount for that animal draped around them. But you don’t have to be filthy rich or wear an animal around yourself this Winter. Most fur vests are quite affordable and 100% faux fur, meaning no animals were harmed in the making of this fashion statement. Most women wear one over their long sleeve sweaters, or even dresses with a pair of boots and a cute scarf.

8. Hunter Rain Boots

If you live in the South, you understand how moody the weather can be some days. Especially during the cold months when it rains, leading to the possible excitement for a snow day, or an “ice” day in the South. No matter what the weather might be that day, you will be prepared for anything in your trendy Hunter rain boots. If you don’t know what Hunter rain boots are, I’m sorry, for you have been missing out. They come in all different solid colors to match with any outfit. While they are a bit pricy, they sure do keep your feet warm and dry. If you don’t already own a pair of Hunter rain boots, I advise you to go out and snatch up a pair before your feet are sinking is sloshy ice or drowning in a puddle.

9. Ripped Jeans

Ripped jeans have aways been in style since the 2000s, but something has changed about them. Where we used to say the more holes the better the jeans, now people seem to be saying the opposite. Ripped jeans have become less, ripped I would say, having only one or two small rips on each leg. The most popular style of ripped jeans is having only one hole per leg, symmetrical at each knee cap. It maintains the style of the ripped, relaxed jeans we used to know and love so much, but gained a more sophisticated and grown up look by eliminating the amount of holes.

10. Poncho Sweaters

Lastly, we have poncho sweaters. We are beginning to see more and more women of all ages, even children wearing these cozy sweaters. Easy to wear, they just slip over your head and hangs down leaving your arms to move about where ever as it doesn’t have any holes to put your arms through. Much like the traditional poncho rain jacket, but way more stylish. Most of these sweaters come with more fabric bunched up at the neck, almost like a turtle neck sweater but not tight. Poncho sweaters are so easy to pair with a pair of leggings, jeans or even a skirt! You can dress it up or dress it down depending on where you are going, thats what is so great about them!

Hopefully, these trends gave you a few ideas on how to get your Winter wardrobe started. Now all you have to do is go out and shop till you drop! Remember to look for amazing deals at your favorite stores. Also, don’t forget about Black Friday on the 25th and Cyber Monday on the 28th. Merry Shopping!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
